My Lords and Ladies;

 

It is my pleasure to remind all that the Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire soon approaches.  This year the faire is from July 12th to July 15 in Cedar City Utah.  Setup for Faire is July 11th beginning at 12pm (noon) Utah time.  Takedown is Saturday night (the 13th from 8pm to Midnight).

For those of you who have never come to the Cedar Faire, it has been the premiere faire in Southern Utah for over  30 years and is a quiet, relaxing faire located in the cool shade of Cedar City, Utah.  The Utah Shakespearean festival  is also in full swing during faire time and in years past members of the encampment have enjoyed a night at the theater.  It’s like taking a vacation AND coming to Faire at the same time!

The 2017 plays being performed during fair this year are:  Shakespear in Love, Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It, Guys and Dolls, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, and Treasure Island.

Local Amenities are: (Directly across the street) Lynn’s Groceries, Lonny Boys BBQ (Formerly Sonny Boys - and a Best in state Winner 5 years running), The Chinese Buffet, Little Cesars Pizza, and Hermies Burger Stop.  

 

UMSRF Schedule

In concordance with Utah state law, it will be a dry encampment.  Schedule is subject to change as needed. All times are local Utah time.

• Tuesday, July 11h:  Setup begins at 12:00pm

• Wednesday, July 12h: Faire begins at 10:00am.  Archery/Arts/Combat/Games demo throughout the day as needed.

• Thursday, July 13th: Faire Begins at 10:00am.  Archery/Arts/Combat/Games demo throughout the day as needed.

• Friday, July 14th:  Faire begins at 10:00am. Archery/Arts/Combat/Games demo throughout the day as needed.  Canton of Desert Haven May Makeup event will begin at 4:00pm and will consist of Standard single elimination tournaments for each discipline.  Archery will be conducted on site that morning before Faire opens (make up archery will be available on Saturday morning for those who can come up Friday evening, but would miss the morning shoot).  Arts judging as needed.

• Saturday, July 15th:  Faire begins at 10:00am Archery/Arts/Combat/Games demo throughout the day as needed and as time permits.  We will also be holding our Combat Tournaments (standard tournaments for each discipline) for the Canton of Desert Haven’s June and July Events.  Saturday, July 15th:  8:00pm Faire closes and takedown begins.  Takedown should be completed by Midnight.

While a gatelist is not required by the faire, we would like you to RSVP with the following info:

• Tent Size: (Mundane tents are welcome but must be pitched and taken down every day).  The games pavilion is also available as a ‘barracks’ tent for a small number of people.  Please let us know.

• What service would you like to perform (if you are interested in joining the games guild and learning the games, this is an excellent fair to do so).

• What days you can come:

There has been interest from members from other local chapters in the past, please spread the word.  We would love to see anyone who can attend.
